Sonic Striding
Sonic Striding is a high-tech way for people to track their activity. Studies show that the best way to increase activity is to track it -- toss in a little friendly competition, and people are really motivated to get moving. Participants wear a tiny, computerized SonicPed device on their shoe. The SonicPed contains a sophisticated accelerometer, a memory chip, a battery, and a wireless transmitter. The device automatically tracks and stores each member's activity duration, number of steps taken, distance covered, and calories burned. It even knows if a person is walking, running, or doing a diiferent type of activity such as cycling or using an elliptical trainer. The SonicPed stores all activity information until users walk past a wireless receiver installed at the workplace, at which point the data is magically transmitted to the participant's personal Sonic Boom website. This program is especially fun done in team competitions. Our member's only section displays team and individual leader boards, and clients can choose from an array of contest parameters. We recommend allowing family members to participate to compete as a family team, as nothing breeds healthy behaviors like getting the whole family involved.

Pedometers Are SO 1990's Even the best USB pedometers are old-school. If you have to plug it in, push a button, or self-report your activity, you'll be less likely to do it. Remove all obstacles or "chores" for people and they'll use the device more regularly - the wireless advantage can't be overemphasized. We've learned that the only surefire way to sustain engagement is to use an ultra-convenient, accurate device like the SonicPed - no plugging it in, no buttons to push, no hassles. That's the magic. Sure, our device costs a little more, but you get exactly what you pay for.
