“My inspiration came when I decided that I want to be more active and take care of myself, both physically and emotionally.  It has been quite a journey – some days are better than others – but one thing that has been consistent is that I don’t give up.

I have tried a few diets that have not worked.  This time, I have been more consistent with consuming fewer carbs.  Also, when we started with Sonic Boom, I became more accountable by counting my steps, logging my fruit and water intake, and keeping tabs on each other with my coworkers.

I really like the walking/step challenges.  It’s amazing how you feel after doing these activities every day.  I’ve lost around 5 pounds within a period of 6 months.  I’ve improved my nutritional intake by eating smaller portions and making healthier choices, and my energy levels have been so much better.  As soon as the program was up and running I began doing the Challenge-of-the-Day religiously.  I also use the tracking feature to monitor my progress toward numerous goals – and I’ve even joined a few contests.  I’ve found my monthly check-in-calls with Katy, my Sonic Boom coach, very useful and that additional accountability has been great.

I would like to inspire others to make healthy choices – it only takes one step to do it.  I would also like to share with people that 5 or 10 minutes per day of exercise will make a big difference in your life.  You will definitely have more energy, improve your health, and feel better both physically and emotionally.

I hope we have more people who will join the challenges and that they will challenge themselves in ways that they have not.  I have been able to complete two 5k runs and that is after I broke my ankle last year – so anyone can do it if you put your mind to it.
