“Since high school, my weight has always been up and down. I had my first child at 25 years old and gained 50-60 pounds. Then I had my second, and I weighed 200 pounds. After having kids, I went through a very bad divorce and lost 40 pounds, which put me back at 160.

I met my husband in 2013 and gained some happy weight — 25 pounds, to be exact. For the next five years, I tried to exercise and watch what I ate. But I was never consistent. I signed up for an expensive trainer at LA Fitness. But again, I was not consistent, so it was a waste of money. In 2017, CoreLogic had an onsite medical person to assist people with weight loss and nutrition. It was a program that would hold you accountable. So I signed up with a few work friends. But again, I wasn’t consistent.

In 2018, I got pregnant with my baby girl. This pregnancy did a number on my body. I was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia and placed on bed rest. When I had my daughter in December 2018, I weighed 240 pounds! I didn’t like how I looked, I didn’t want anyone to see me, and I was super depressed. In February 2019, I was cleared by my doctor to start working out again. I was slightly consistent, and, by April, I was down to 217 pounds.

However, in May, June, and July, the scale slowed down and I started falling off. In August 2019, I went to my cloud desktop at work and clicked on Sonic Boom, just to explore it more. I had always heard about the contests but wanted to see what else was on there. As I clicked around, I noticed that it stored my biometric numbers. Each year I had gained more and more weight. That was extremely eye-opening for me. As I dove deeper into the program, I saw that you can sign up for a coach. What the heck? Let’s try it.

I had my first call with Sarah in September 2019. I think I was around 208 pounds. We set some goals and checked in with each other every two weeks. I knew what it took, but I really needed to be held accountable. Soon, I was meeting the goals. A pound here, a pound there. The number was coming down on the scale — and I finally got below 200! To be honest, there was a moment where I fell off again. But this time, I had a call with Sarah, and she kept asking me questions to find out why working out wasn’t happening. I kept saying, “I don’t know, I don’t know why.”

By the end of the conversation, we realized it was because I was leaving work late, which was throwing everything off. So I got back on it. In March 2020, I went on vacation for a week. When I got back, COVID hit, and everything went remote. With everything that was happening, I didn’t meet back up with Sarah. But I kept the goals in mind. At that time, I weighed 191. I started doing intermittent fasting 16:8 and signed up for this great app called Fiton. I started working out 3-4 times per week. By June, I was 176. I would still like to lose 20 more pounds.

I still work out regularly and watch what I eat. I recommend getting a coach to others all the time because that accountability is very helpful.”
